"Bee Proud" Auction for Queer x BIPOC
December 16, 2024 @ 6:30am - December 20, 2024 @ 11:55pm EST
We're so excited to auction a bumble bee mouse gift basket from Southern Curiosities, a small business in Irmo specializing in entomology art and whimsical taxidermy.
This package not only includes the "Bee Proud" mouse, but also a collection of stickers, and a Bee Proud print.
All proceeds will go directly to supporting the Harriet Hancock Center's Queer x BIPOC peer-support and social group. The Queer x BIPOC group started in June, and aims to offer a safe and inclusive space where members can connect, share experiences, and find solidarity within their intersecting identities. This community prioritizes the unique challenges and experiences faced by queer individuals of color, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment. Through open dialogue, mutual support, and cultural affirmation, this group strives to cultivate a nurturing environment where members can explore their identities, build meaningful relationships, and access resources for personal growth.
Some activities they've hosted have been painting and crafting nights, Karaoke at The Hoot, gaming at Transmission Arcade and Bar, and Movie Night at Savage Craft. In 2025, the group aims to continue to offer social events, and integrate speakers into their peer-support meetings.
